Doodle was the perfect name for William Armstrong because people could expect much from a kid named Doodle. The brother was an asshole because he only taught Doodle to walk because of his own greedy pride. And because he caused Doodle's death.
It was also creepy that his first reaction to having an invalid brother was to plan to kill him with a pillow. Even if the brother was invalid it is cruel to wish him dead because of it. The brothers developmeant program pushed Doodle too hard. He could've easily achieved running, swimming, and fighting if he wasnt pushed so unrealistically fast. The ending was really sad and there were enough foreshadows to infer Doodle's death, but it is tragic nonetheless. It is also sad because his death could've been easily avoided if it wasn't for the brother being too obsessed with having a "normal" brother. Infallibility is stupid. No one truly is infallible.
The title represents Doodle because the bird tried to do what it couldn't by trying to fly out of the tree just like Doodle tried to run and in the end that is what killed him.
